Tribute to Lyra McKee

This amazing journalist was shot dead whilst reporting on a riot in the Creggan neighborhood in Derry.

Northern Ireland is still inhospitable for journalists. 

Lyra McKee is not the first Northern Irish journalist to face  danger while reporting - its clear things still need to change and ensure she is the last.

At the age of  29, Lyra McKee was a widely respected journalist. She had recently signed a two-book deal with acclaimed publisher Faber & Faber. A passionate campaigner for LGBT rights in Northern Ireland, she first wrote a letter to her teenage self about being gay this went viral and became the basis of a short film.

Lyra sought to promote a more inclusive society, free of sectarianism, bigotry and intolerance and unrest in Northern Ireland

The New IRA have admitted to the killing of Lyra https://www.bbc.  this statement from the New IRA comes after the hard-left republican political party Saoradh - which has the support of the New IRA - had previously sought to justify the use of violence on Thursday. Their twitter account has now been closed down.

The question is is Brexit to blame for all of this unrest? I wish Lyra was still here to help answer this.

A senseless death that could have been avoided - lets hope this is the last one for the sake of Ireland, Brexit and all Journalists.

"A daughter, a sister, an aunt, a great-aunt, a partner, a niece, a cousin, and above all, a best friend and confidante to so many of us.

"A friend to all, a gentle innocent soul who wouldn't wish ill on anyone. Such a warm and innocent heart, she was the greatest listener, someone who had time for everyone."

The McKee family added: "She was a smart, strong-minded woman who believed passionately in inclusivity, justice and truth.

Greyhounds are still being drugged - Cocaine abuse is still happening

A recent report - shows Greyhounds are still being drugged 

 

Its frightening to see this is still occurring when so many countries have banned Greyhound Racing, dogs win races, test positive, owners deny all knowledge  so nothing happens and so it goes on and on.. 

How can a country of animal lovers not rally and get this 'barbaric sport' closed down - I am not interested in the profit and greed - there are plenty of ways to make money without cruelty being involved. 

'The government should appoint a statutory body to enforce the Animal Welfare Act rather than letting the GBGB self-regulate'.  

Trainers may give their animals cocaine to gain an advantage in racing: the drug makes animals “hyperactive” and run faster. But it can also cause tremors, panting and even deadly seizures or heart attacks.

Cocaine was found in a greyhound called Sniffing Out, as sport chiefs say there has been a spike in the number of race dogs testing positive for it.

The class A drug was discovered in hair or urine samples from four greyhounds last year, official documents show, raising fears that not enough is being done to protect animals from the effects of doping.

What does Democracy Mean - Brexit - The People's Vote

The word democracy describes a political system. "In a democratic country, all eligible citizens have the right to participate, either directly or indirectly, in making the decisions that affect them."

So Cameron said 'let the people vote in a referendum'

The people voted and which ever way you look at it it was close with leave just winning.

Was this a democratic vote - Sort of - if the campaign to leave or remain had been fact checked, based on sound knowledge and correctly policed then yes it would have been democratic - but it wasn't. 

One of the major criticisms of the Brexit campaign was the number of misleading or false claims.
Both sides were accused of running deeply flawed campaigns with spurious reports such as money flooding back to the NHS in the event of Brexit.

1. 'The money saved from leaving the EU will result in the NHS getting £350m a week'
2. 'A free-trade deal with the EU will be 'the easiest thing in human history'
3. ‘Two thirds of British jobs in manufacturing are dependent on demand from Europe’
4. 'Turkey is going to join the EU and millions of people will flock to the UK'
5. 'Brexit will lead to Scotland renewing calls for independence'
6. 'Brexit does not mean the UK will leave the single market '

Which way to go?

Vote Leave broke electoral law and British democracy is shaken. Vote Leave has been fined £61,000 after being found guilty of breaking electoral law during the Brexit campaign....

Large business funded the campaigns on a basis of what they would benefit from - that is un democratic.

Members from different political parties joined together to create a 'dream list' of how the UK would be out of the EU - financially, ethically, and morally and people bought into the dream. 

Remainers could only fight for what there was/is  - difficult when the people are feeling disengaged especially after years of austerity and terrorism.

So what is Brexit? That really is the million dollar question.  Brexit is different things to different people. 

Its: 

• 'going back to how things were before'
• 'less migration'
• 'being great again'
• 'more control'
• 'Free trade' 
• 'more money for the NHS' 
• 'prosperity'

The problem is these are mostly immeasurable things - if everyone wants something different from Brexit can it really deliver. Will the leavers ever be happy with Brexit?

If you look at two years of Brexit, time wasted on elections solely to gain more control (less democracy), poor negotiations, a 'deal' that quite frankly a child could have written in less time and that pleases no-one, its difficult to see how anyone will or can ever be satisfied that 'Brexit has been delivered' 

In my opinion - it is democratic to have a second clear well articulated referendum, with a proper fact based campaign (or no campaign)  - a democratic vote - and yes I believe the option to revoke Article 50 should be included within that vote.

These vaccines can be shed in feces and urine for weeks after vaccination. Studies on dogs vaccinated with CPV-2 parvo-virus show that the virus can remain in the blood stream and be shed via feces for as long as three to four weeks after vaccination. This means these diseases can be spread through vaccination.


(It is known that vaccinated children shed the virus for a few days after vaccination (through sneezing or coughing). However, the vaccine virus is weakened, and so it is much less able to spread from person to person than flu viruses that circulate during the flu season.)

Vets are over vaccinating at the detriment of pet health.

Just like vaccinations for humans, the number of scheduled vaccinations cats and dogs now receive has gone through the roof compared to previous generations.

Unsurprisingly, domestic cats and dogs have never suffered as many health problems as they do now.

How many tails and legs must be amputated before Vets will begin to admit the vaccinations they are pushing are high-risk?

If these figures aren’t telling enough, a further study claims that “Sixty-six per cent of all sick dogs start being sick within three months of vaccination.”

And compromised immune systems are just the start. Vaccines are also responsible for causing a range of chronic diseases to take hold, among them autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, thyroid disease, arthritis and parvovirus. Vaccines can even make your dog autistic.

Vets, pressured by vaccine companies to continually increase profits, are over-vaccinating our pets. Annual vaccines have become normalised when most vaccines are actually designed to last for at least seven years. Vaccination forms a significant part of Vet Practice turnover.
